We went to the Canine Dermatologist yesterday. They did a visual exam. Some of you may remember that I had her shaved to be able to get the medicine for her allergies to her skin. Well the hair isn't grwoing back in the areas that she had very bad red blotches. He took her in the back and did a skin scrape. He tested for ringworm, scabies, and infections. She tested positive for staph infections, dermatitis and she has a yeast infection in her paws. He started her on 3 oral meds and a special shampoo. She is scheduled for her skin test next friday. I have to leave her for the day. It is an hour away. So I will bring her, then come back to work, then go back to get her. He said he would have the results when I pick her up.

On a good note, I was so PROUD of her. She behaved beautifully. We are working on her socialization and she only barked once or twice at the other animals and even played the sniff game with a huge golden retreiver.

One more thing, everytime I take her to the vet, I make sure she pees and poos before we go in, but she still poos on the floor in the office. What can I do about it?

Sorry so long.

Awww, poor Geigh. I sure hope these meds help her and she gets better. Poor thing.

Oh and about going to the bathroom in the vet's office, I don't know what to say but it's kind of funny!!

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too

I'm sorry to hear she's having so many issues, though hopefully knowing what's going on will help solve the problems.

Glad to hear she behaved (except for the poo). Did you or do you feed her in the morning before going to the vet? I don't know what to say except maybe hold off on feeding her until after the appointment.

I feed her in the morning but she doesn't go to the vet until late in the afternoon. In fact she is ready for her evening feeding when we get home. I try to make her appointments as late as possible so I want have to leave work too early.

Glad she behaved well, sorry she's having skin issues (I can so relate with Mayfly!). Hopefully all the meds will get her cleared up!

We had a toy fox terrier that always managed to make a poo at the vet's office.  It didn't matter if we didn't feed her or how many times she pooed before seeing the vet.  She always managed to squeeze one out just for the vet.

We'll have to outwit the fiend with our superior intelligence.

ABout the pooing... it's from stress. There may be nothing you can do about it (take a baggie with you...)
I'm sorry she's having to go through all of this, and pray you can find the cause soon!

Nora, I was thinking that was it. I do take tissue with me and I just go to the bathroom and flush. I even took her in the bathroom with me yesterday when we got there hoping she would go in there but I guess because there were no other people around she waited until we got out of the bathroom and into the lobby in front of everybody. Oh well. I am just very proud of her accomplishment on the behavior.

You have every right to be proud of her behavior! As far as pooping in front of everyone? Ya know what? They'll get over it... and if they are truly "dog people" they will understand, so don't sweat it! In the big picture.. it's a small thing.

I know. They didn't mind. My regular vet's office expects it. Ha Ha. I called them when we left and the girl there even asked if she shared her love with them (them pooping). hehehehehe
