YAY Hope! You pet her for an HOUR? Wow. Mine only do that when it's nap time and they are sleeping on or near me. Otherwise it's 5 minutes and off to the next thing!

Sounds like y'all are making progress. Don't be surprised if Hope has a little regression when Hunter joins the pack, but I'm sure it will all work out in the end.

I don't mean to be negative, but I have some concerns for little Hunter.  Hopefully, Hope will be doing much better by next week, but if not....i think you need to make some hard decisions.   You mentioned that Hope bit you and you had to have stitches.  You also mentioned to me that Hope bit your boyfriend.  Unless, you have completely broken her of this aggression, I don't think you should bring in Hunter.  If she goes after him, she could really hurt him.  These babies are so curious and playful.  Hunter will probably go after her with growly voice and playful bites, but she may take that as aggression from a much smaller dog and let him have it.  Hunter may also want to wander around her food bowl at some point when you turn your back.  It only takes a second.  I know you love doggies and you have had the worst circumstances happen to your pups.  I just don't want to see another tragedy because your big heart let you take on too many pups.  Puppies are a lot of work and training.  It sounds like Hope needs a lot of work and training also.  Even though your landlord allows 3 dogs....that's not necessarily in the best interest of the dogs...if they are all in need of tons of one on one  special training.  I'm not telling you what to do, I 'm just really hoping that either Hope turns around or you don't get Hunter.  Or if you really want Hunter, then you need to find Hope a loving home with someone who can take the time with her all alone to train.  That is just my opinion and you don't know me and care what I think, but as a breeder of babies....I wouldn't want my baby going in to a home with a possibly viscious adult dog.  Maybe the rescue folks know more than I, as they are taking in strays all the time and blending them with their packs....but this is a baby mixing in with a dog that has bitten her new owners twice.  I'm just worried about little Hunter....and possibly the 3rd dog you are interested in!

Carol,

she absouletly loves other dogs.....thats what is making her come out of her shell...the neighbors down the road have a min pin cross and that dog is always in my yard and she just loves him. she see's me petting him and i guess she thinks i'm not so bad after all and she wants to be petted too...he's even got her playing with toys. he comes over just to play with her. I asked the neighbors if he could stay at my house for a little while today, he started to whine and she went to investigate and she licked him and cuddled with him. she is not dog agressive at all. she even let him drink from her water bowl. so i have no worries about Hunter comming home. She will just adore him. Hope was just scared to death when i first brought her home. now she isn't to bad, only scared when she hears a noise..like the clock ticking loud or a horn or something like that. she stays in the same room with us now. no more growling at the boyfriend no more barking at us. she usually just goes in her kennel and hangs out or i will find her sleeping on the floor or laying by our feet while we watch a movie. she is doing great..i still feed her from my hand, she has gotten more and more trusting everyday so i have no doubt she will be a great dog in time.

LOVE her new name. Sounds like you are doing an awesome job with her. I wouldn't leave Hope and Hunter alone together for awhile. Just to be sure. She sounds like she is making fantastic progress but you never know.

oh no they would be supervised at all times...they would never be alone together. Hunter will be comming with me to work so i can watch him and hope will be staying home. i put in a doggie door where there is a big fenced in back yard....i put concrete under the fence so can't dig their way out and the fence is 6 ft tall just so everyone knows that. Hope can go in and out as she pleases. i leave her kennel door open and she goes in their by herself.. at night she sleeps in her kennel. when i am gone i do shut the doggie door and when she goes out i go out their with her. i have caught her playing with her toys a few times outside when she thinks no one is looking then the neighbor dog comes over and her tail goes a million miles an hour and they play for a long time lol.
