OSO!! we just adopted Oso, and did not know what he was until we can across this site.  Now we know he has to be at least part RT!  He is 2 1/2 yrs old and very well behaved, except at times he HATES other dogs.

We are trying to socialize him, but it can be hard!  Any suggestions for the agression (all bark no bite however) torwards other dogs??

He looks like a German Shepherd with short hair and a docked tail....maybe he's a shepherd & rattie mix??

As far as the dog aggression, I would suggest and I'm not expert (you may want to post your question under training so one of the training experts can help you) but I've always seen where you have them on a lead and have treats and divert their attention to you repeatedly when you see another dog.  Patience and repitition are the key.

Good luck

Definitely looks at least part rattie. Congratulations!!!! How long have you had him and how big is he? Love the first pic. He looks very stately

As for the other dogs, is he exhibiting serious agression: growling, teeth barred, hackles up, etc? We have an excellent training mod here, Nora, who should be able to offer you some great advice, but it helps if you are very specific with lots and lots of descriptive detail so she can have the best understanding possible of what's going on without actually seeing it. It would also be good if you posted that question and description in the Training Forum, as she usually checks for new threads there first.

Welcome to the site. We can't wait to hear more about and see tons of pics of Oso

thanks for the comments (and so quick) hes not super aggressive, just his hair on the back stands up and growls and barks if he gets up to the other dog he doesnt bite just sniffs. ill post this in the training area.

We have had him about 2 mos. got him from a shelter in NJ he was all curled up in the back of the pen. he is pretty small about 15 pounds or so. he was 11 lbs when we got him.

Sounds like something that can definitely be worked on. As I'm sure you know, since he came from a shelter, goodness only knows what he his life was like before ending up there. I'm so glad you saw him and decided to choose him. Ratties typically do very poorly in shelters and are often overlooked because their personalities just go away in that environment. Poor babies.

Thanks again for adopting He's my Daisy's size - she runs from 14 to 16 pounds on average.

Wow- I think he is just gorgeous! Maybe he's a rattie/min-pin or rattie/manchester terrier mix? Who knows, who cares? He's a keeper! Love the pic of him in the pillows of the couch - reminds me of my Bonnie. She loves to be on the pillows - everywhere! The not liking other dogs could be a couple of things and can definitely be worked on and improved. Thanks for rescuing him and WELCOME to the site!!

Is his tail docked, or is it a nbt? He kinda reminds me of my Winchester. He was born with a short tail.

thanks everyone, i think he is gorgeous too!!!!!! but he was a little devil today--i think he hates the rain.

his tail, according to the trainer at his school, she thinks it was closed in a door or the like--accidentally docked but i like it, my childhood dog and cat also had no tail--i think that's why i was attracted to him. what is a typical RT coloring, he has a baldish belly with blackish skin, thats typical right? Does any one else have a dog with cowlicks on their haunches - kind of by the butt? ill put a pic up at some point

You mean "Butt Circles"? We had a whole thread about that! My Winchester's belly is kinda blackish pink.
