The year was 1563, Gretna Green, Scotland. The Highland Case Clan was there to celebrate the Harvest at Market Day. Fine foods, wares and craft items could be found at every turn. Travelers came from far and wide to visit one another and pay homage to Mary our beloved Queen. Dancing, singing, frivolity, jugglers and fools... merriment was had by all. Indeed a fine day!

The costumes we wore were all hand made by daughter Angelica. Accessories were made by myself. Even the pups were able to attend. Each wore a midnight blue bandana with gold filligree. Shiloh was a bit overcome by the crowd but did very well. Dinky Doc charmed the ladies with hiskisses and cuddles. Master John was so busy playing we hardly saw him. He was busy mingling with the other archers and the Scotsmen Players with their bagpipes. What a time we had!

We are seriously considering renting tent space at next year's faire. It's just amazing to see that many teenagers all enthralled over ancient history. Reinacting history is so much more fun than reading it from a dusty old text book!

Cool. I went to the Savage, Minnesota Renaissance(sp) Faire, a few years ago, when I was up there. It was really cool.

I love it! Your family does the funnest things.
My mom's family is all Scottish and actually traces back to a family member that was an honor guard for Queen Mary and accompanied her to France....so I love this stuff!

Those of you who have never been to one of these faires should really treat yourselves to a visit. This is an absolute blast. You can dress up or not and enjoy all or part of any of the events. This is good for kids from 1-100 and for anyone, disabled or not. They usually have tents set up for those that need a few minutes away from the crowds as well. This one even had a tent with rocking chairs set up for nursing mommies. Just a great time!

OH what fun and what memories these photos bring back for me!! I had friends that regularly sold/participated in Ren Faires when i was a teen so the best fun was dressing up and helping them every summer. I just loved being a 'wench' (haha). Thanks so much for sharing the smiles.
