It's come to my attention that we need to address an issue regarding rescue posts, topics, etc.
Everyone is well aware that there are a few different rat terrier rescue groups, and many of those rescue groups have members that also post here. Rat-Terrier.Com has always welcomed discussions and posts regarding adoption and rescue of this breed that we all love, even though this site is not a "rescue" site per se.
HOWEVER....
For quite some time now, rescue threads and posts have somewhat dominated the site. All of us here appreciate the hard work and love and dedication that rescue work involves. That does not mean that everyone is thrilled to see tons of rescue posts everytime they log into this site. We (the powers-that-be) have done our best to divide up the message boards so that rescue threads have their own individual categories so that those members who feel they'd rather not see or read them don't have to. It defeats our work when rescue threads are started under other catergories in order that they be seen by more members. Accidents happen, but purposely doing this is not going to be allowed. Only Lance, Bethany, and myself have the power to move threads - and we do so as we see fit.
I love this breed and this site, and I do as much as possible to encourge people interested in doing so to adopt a dog in need - rat terrier or otherwise. I would hate to see it come to a point where we eliminate the rescue posts because of overloading (which, in my humble opinion can also turn people off) or, on occasion, disagreements between different rescue groups.
So, I ask you all to respect the decisions of myself and the other moderators, and to be mindful that while your life's passion may be all important to you, it is not necessarily so for others.
This is meant to be an informational notification and not really a discussion so I am locking the thread. If you have a comment or question, please feel free to PM me directly.
Thanks!
