We have had my mother here since Tuesday. We told her that we were going up to the lake house this weekend, but in the end she decided that she didn't want to go there (she's city folk and the quiet scares her). The ultimate schedule is for us to stay at home through the 4th and go to the lake house on the 5th (our sons work next week so they will stay here). Logistically, that means that we will drive to NYC on the 5th to drop my mother off and continue to the lake house. This isn't quite as bad as it sounds because the lake house is a bit closer to NYC than it is to where we live. Here's the experiment: We take Hendryx to the lake house (he loves it there); he's finally tolerating car trips; he has NEVER seen a city, much less NYC. He's also never been in an apartment house. This should be interesting. I think we'll make sure to have a good supply of poop bags handy, and some dramamine just in case.

His name is Hendryx! He's a rat terrier! OK!

Sounds like a fun time and it'll be good for all of you to get away for awhile.  Hendryx will have a blast in the country.  The city...that will probably be a lot of strange sights and sounds for him.  Cameo gets a little startled sometimes when we are out and a tractor trailer releases it's brakes or when I take a wrong turn and end up in the construction area.

Hendryx can do it!! I know he can-LOL

We took Lucy to Halifax-what a nightmare (we live near a relatively small city, and live in a "town"). Lucy eventually calmed down.

My crew would not do well in the city. Neither would their mama.

Taylor's a city pro! His first year and a half was spent in Las Vegas. >< They do look and sniff around a lot, but Tay got used to it!

I think he'd much prefer the country though, but I just can't give him that right now. =( So we've compromised and live in a smaller city now. =)

Good luck with the grand experiment! I bet Hendryx will do fine! He's been really good the last few times you've posted!

I'll post once we get there. Tomorrow will be a trial. Fireworks all over the place. Hendryx just does not do well with fireworks. I'll prepare a soft spot under the toilet tank for him.

One thing about my mother visiting - she says she dislikes dogs but spoils Hendryx rotten. She's the only one who gets away with slipping him scraps at the table (hey, she's 88, not much to do to change her ways at this late date). Tonight he got away with a half slice of corned beef brisket courtesy of my mother. Oh well.
