what pup are you talking about??? for ashley?

ashley, i have no idea what we are doing, but i would love to go scuba diving, ive never been! ive been to mexico but the water wasnt clear and not as beautiful as i am expecting the caribbean to be. youve been to hawaii right? ive never been there but i expect the caribbean's water to be similar, with a lot of colorful fish and what now. im so excited!

for rescuing, were you just curious about the process? i think that once my pup is a year or 2 old and when i can handle 2 dogs, i think i wanna rescue one, maybe a lil brother for my girl. that be cute! lol

wait a sec. what pup? i'm so confused! i wasn't looking at any particular dog (cuz i won't get my pet-friendly apartment til later this year) was there somebody that thought of one that would be a great fit for me? if so, i'd have to talk to my boyfriend to see if we'd be able to talk to our realtor sooner...

omg! erin, i think you'll love it! we went in hawaii and i'd immagine it'd be the same kinda. there was so many cool stuff to see and you can get disposable underwater cameras to take pictures and stuff (pretty awesome!)

yeah, i was just kinda curious, but i'm such a softie, if there was one that was perfect for me, i'm pretty sure i'd scoop her up pretty quickly lol

yeah, im not sure what she meant, it just came outta the blue. maybe because i mentioned that i saw a post you had about rescuing? im not sure but im sure she will respond back and tell us whats going on lol.

omg ive heard of those cameras! like you can put them underwater and take pics! i have to get some of those, i would totally take pics of fish and coral and what not!!! but wow i cant tell you how scard of sharks i am!!!

i have been watching scary movies since i was like 9 years old! and i still love them, but when i was younger they were more scary. one of my favorite movies was deep blue sea and i een studied sharks in school and i am terrified of seeing one!!! ahh i would just die right there! but everything else will be fun, i will totally have to post so0me pics on here for you and everyone to see!!!

omg i know, if i could afford a pup now i would go for it, but sadly i wont be able to get one till after the summer

ahhh theres like 6 more days of classes!!! the rest of this week and then next week (not momday tho) i have 2 finals to write and 2 parpers tonight and then my first year of college is done!!! i cant wait, im going home this weekend to put out some job apps A(like at petco hehehe) 3 day weekend at home yes! the couch and big tv is mine!!! and on memorial monday "its me of the dog" is having an all day marathon! omg i am going to be in heaven, i love that show hahah
in july if you go to the marymoore park, is your bf going too? he should and you should so he can interact with the dogs and i can meet up with you! and i talked to my friend and i have been there before. i played my very last soccer game there on my club team, against our biggest arch rivals! in the semifinals for the state cup. ugh! what i wouldnt give for another go at them!

haha so theres my ramble for the day

yeah, i dunno, i hope she replies soon though

yeah! they're awesome, i dove down and took a pic of my sister underneath and it's pretty awesome (if i do say so myself! ) are there sharks down there? i'd hope they'd be in the deeper water though... but what do i know

yeah deffinately! everyone loves pictures!!!

haha sounds like you're gonna be in heaven this weekend! (lol you just said that) i think petco's employee discount is like 20% or something, so that'd be pretty awesome for getting your supplies!!!

i'm pretty sure my boyfriend wouldn't want to go without a dog, he'd probably think it was too weird (and he's not exactly a social butterfly lol) but i hope i wouldn't have to work, i can't wait to meet you!

i thought she was on but maybe got off or hasnt checked. she'll be back to check!

haha i trust you on the camera. and yeah i would think sharks would be out in the deep but ive seen a lot of movies so i dont know whats true or not, but ima be a lil paranoid! when i was in san diego, i stepped on a stingray! it didnt sting me but it swam away and freaked me out i was screaming for my (now ex) bf! so freaked out! but i do love the water so much. i wouldnt know either lol

omg yeah ill be in heaven, no more school food! and after next week i will be making my own too yeah! i have like $5 left on my food car, so i needa stock up when i go home friday lol. if i had cereal and milk, it would last me all week ll i lvoe both!

yeah i know what you mean, guys are a lil different when it comes to those type of things but whatever when we both have our pups it will be awesome! yeah i cant wait to meet you too! and kristen and she might have her pup too! and everyone else who'll be there, thats so awesome! we HAVE to schedule another playdate once we both have our pups and they have their shots! lol

haha well i don't think "Jaws" was very realistic and actually only a small amount of animal attacks are from sharks yea!

omg! i LOVE cold cereal, sometimes i eat it for dessert too yumm-os! haha we go through at LEAST a gallon of milk a week with just the two of us! i agree with you, home-made food is WAY better than what you get at a caffeteria!

haha kristen's not on here as much as us! i don't think she knows about that meetup, but i don't think olive would be big enough to take to the "big dog" romps lol i can't wait to see her! her avatar is TOO CUTE! i'm deffinately looking forward to our playdates!

oh yeah jaws wasnt, even though my mom said when she was younger it scared her lol. yeah im glad there arent many attacks by sharks, *knock on wood* i would just be terrified seeing one, but it be cool though. i wanna play with dolphins!!!!

omg yeah, i go through half a gallon in a couple days lol and i love cereal. well you know my preference about washing dishes so lately ive been munching on cereal and then taking a swig from the jug haha its mine and i do what i want! and when no ones looking i do it at home too lol oops.

yeah shes not on as much as us lol, im like addictive, so when i am just sitting here watching tv and surfing the web, you can find me here lol. oh yeah Olive, what a cute name, i forgot she is a toy, but itll be cute! i know playdates are gunna be fun! i want like a private dog park for just the rat terriers and their friends lol dogs we trust haha i am looking so forward for my pup. but i have to wait till the fall, SO FAR AWAY.....

oh heck yes! dolphins rock!

haha that's so funny! i don't really do that unless there's only a little left then i don't have to share! and i can add some nesquick or something and just shake it up <3 i love chocolate milk!

i know! i'm so sick of waiting i want a pup now! lol i think she sparked my interest in rescues again! i'm looking around again and starting to secondguess my origional plan of getting a pup... but i dunno... i plan on having kids later in life, so i don't want one that wasn't good with kids... but if i had a dog that was already house trained, i would probably be able to have her go outside rather than a litter box... can a full grown dog hold it while i'd be at work? cuz i'd like to have her be able to have the house to herself (crating first obviously until she's used to me being gone) but i want to know i'd be able to trust her there... ya know? i dunno... lol it feels like i'm back at the beginning now hahaha

haha i only do it because i buy my milk and noo ne else drinks it, or its late when im home and dont wanna take time to pour lol but no one knows lol eww omg i love chocolate milk!!! and pudding! yes!!!

me2! its too long away

yeah i was thinking about it earlier today too, about being a lil older and being house trained and helping one out. but then im back to, this is my first dog and yeah its gunna be hard and messy and expensive and what not, but its what i want. and same thing with the kids. when i adopt i already wanna have a been through all the stages and know what im doing, which is prolly what the people at the rescues want so they know it is a forever home, idk lol. i know when pups are older and house trained they can hold it through a eork day.

about the run of the house thing, i think that people say not to do that, not because of the accidents, but its liek they have all that area to protect and it stresses them out and they get anxiety or something. you should post a forum asking what people think about that.

i think when my puppy is older i will get one of those little ex pens so even though they dont have run of the house, they arent in a crate all day lol. i just cant wat till i get my pup, and she is house trained so she can sleep in the bed eith me lol

lol well maybe once the breeder gets in touch with you, it will help you decide what you wanna do. how long ago did you email her? is there a phone # you could call?

sad days she's absolutely gorgeous! but i don't have my pet friendly apartment yet (haven't talked to my realtor, but should soon) i would love to take her but i plan on having kids later and i don't think that'd be fair to her since she has a past with poorly-behaved kids.

BUT i think i might've changed my mind and go with a rescue instead of a pup for my first one (haha i'm too indecisive but a total softie)

well now that we have you TOTTALY! confused! a couple of other things to consider...

1. watch for a pup @5-7 mons old,for a girl your age and life style(I have raised 2 now) I know!

older pups can wait to go out LONGER! so if your tied up at HUMMM school, work! store ANYthing! they can take a lot more neglect and FORGIVE YOU! Even if there are Little kid issues you'll have plenty of time to gather ALL the fun kids to play with the pup and re-adjust it! Also by that age they are crate-train'd by somebody?

2. they pretty much have a handle on there personality by then..

"what you see is pretty much what you get!" especially if your looking for a calm pup,a lot of pups are really BUSY! and wild and people give up on them! @6 mons, its too bad cause they do outgrow a lot of that! I think a lot of kids give there new cute pups to the parents cause they underestiamate how wild they can be,(been there)! It is a little easyer on a older pup.Since you have the time, try and visit some rescued rats and see what kind of a personalty meshes with yours..its INPORTANT! So when you visit the breeders and HOPEFULLY meet the MOM&dads of the pups you'll know what your looking for NOT COLOR! that is the LAST thing to look for or how cute and tiny it is! If you could live w/the parents you got a good shot there pups will grow to be like them ok?

that is what if learned...over the years with placing and connecting pups with people hope it helps!

that sounds good, youd be helping a pup that had a bad life out and give the ma better one. and a plus is they can stay crated longer since you have a lot on your plate, and if you wanted to they can just go outside, less expensive without litter box, and less oder and less space taking up. that that wowuld be a big plus. i think its wonderful adopting but i thnik i am still going to stick with my breeder. ive been talking to her for months and im pretty secure on it, and i WANT to experience the puppy hood and experience that atleast once in my lie becasue i probably wont be getting another puppy in my life or not, ill prolly be adoption the rest of my pets. but i think its great if you decide on that. did you even hear back from the breeder yet. plus if the breeder isnt planning on a a litter anytime soon, youd be able to get a pup whenever you want after the prosses goes through. anyway i just think its a good idea, but i am still going the other rout, just my preference right now.

good im glad that she may have found a forever home!

so whats going on? anything new?

pish! no, the breeder never answered me... oh well... now i just need to get my apartment and find the pup that fits me... but do you think that the younger dogs that are labeled as not good for children, would be able to change with proper socialization? or would they need a kid-less family forever? cuz i'd have a few years before that'd happen and was curious if i'd be able to get one like that (not like KD though, she's been through a lot and has good reason to be afraid of kids... but just one that wasn't properly socialized ya know?) i dunno... just trying to expand my options... what do you think?

well thats stupid! its been a while... um well personally i feel that if you find a dog that is good for you, and you establish a good bond, i feeel like you can teach them to be comfortable with kids if they know that they wont hurt them. i feel they just need that socialization. now if they werent properly socialized at a young enough age, depending on how old your talking about, then that might be a problem. if theyre younger than a year, then they still have many years to adapt and be fine with everything. so i feel like it would work, but id ask others with the experienc as well.

Hey guys! Sorry it's been so long! I went to Petco this week and bought my first Olive items!! I'm visiting her this sunday in Portland, so I am bringing a crate, a toy, and a little cushion for her I also bought a couple cute doggie shirts.. hehe. She'll be there for 2 more weeks, but I thought it'd be a good idea for her to have something that smells like me and to get used to, so she won't be quite so scared when I take her home! The breeder even said she'd start crate training her for me I CAN'T BELIEVE I'll have her in 2 WEEKS!! I seriously started contacting breeders almost a YEAR AGO! It has been the longeeesst wait of my life! I am so ready for the sleepless nights, the mess, the teething, the chewing, the whining!! But I am also even more ready for the cuddling and the playing I will post pics of my visit when I get back Sunday. I will be choosing between two black and tan girls. I hope the meet up works out this summer! Do you think Olive will be too small? I bet she'll be able to hold her own since she'll be used to romping around with the dog day care dogs every day! haha. Ashley, I think rescue or a breeder would be a great option, I don't think you'll regret it either way! And Erin, it's only few more months, the hardest part for me was wondering if the mom was pregnant, and then waiting for the pups to be born. But it's gone soo quickly since they were born
