Wow!! My Luke is just 5 1/2 months old and he weighed 19.1 lbs. last Friday at the vets (he got neutered). I think he still has growning to do too! He's 15" from the floor to the top of his shoulder and his chest is 19" around and about 22" long. He doesn't feel like he weighs almost 20 lbs. He's long and lean. His chest is starting to fill out and his bark is getting deeper! I'll have to take more photos, he got his Puppia harness on Friday and he loves it! He is so loose, he can be having his head just drape down off of the bed and still be sleeping... like a eel or something, just so limber...

OK!!! This is great!! Lisa (the lady that I have been talking to) says her dad will take him. She works for a canine rescue in Brooklyn Park area and she sad she can get all of his vetting done. This is the email that she sent me!!

Ashley, If the price is right we will take him. My father lives in Buffalo and I live in Brooklyn Park and My Sister lives in Northfield so we are on both side of MN. Please let me know this would be a B-day gift for my dad. Like I said he has been wanting one but our rescue never gets little dogs to many around here that get them. We work with the MN School of Business / Globe College. or Brookdale Animal Hospital.

Thank you and Dog Bless

Oh ya, thats great! Although my heart sunk a little. I know we're getting attached, but he needs a new home. I think he will be happier with a house and yard instead of our lil 1 bed room apartment. Kinda crazy with 3 dogs, 2 of them ratties!

Ok, so Lisa can e-mail me at mscgurl@hotmail.com. The price is literally whatever I put into him. So far I spent $80 on shots but it sounds like I may get reimbursed for some of that. I need to buy him a collar & his own leash. The ones I originally bought were WAY too small. He is a larger rattie, not a "small dog". I'm thinking by the time he gets done growing he will be a HEAVY lap dog. He is already at 20.5 pounds. He is still not neutered. I was thinking about doing that next week which would raise the price, but if Lisa can do that then I will leave him be.

I hate to say the following but I want to be absoluetly honest about his demeanor.

He is having a bit of seperation anxiety, loud whining that can turn into barking. It could be because he is still a puppy and in a totally new place with nothing he ever knew before. He continues to mark his territory inside and out. He has pooped in the house. So he is really not house trained. He is not used to walking on a lead, still pulls and those 20 lbs feel like a lot more! I think a gentle lead or a harness will do him good. He only chews on his toys and sometimes the other dog's ears. He seems to be calmer than than my little rattie but you never know in the first 2 weeks. He has not offered to bite us, growl at us, or be aggressive. He is still kenneled during the night (usually by our bed so he shuts up). The original owner let him sleep in her bed. So this could be catered for whatever the new owner wants. He does not bark at other people walking by or cars. Gets along well with other dogs and cats. We will be testing his demeanor with children in the next few days. I don't think he's used to coming inside, kind of wary of doors.

Vaccinations include:
Rabies (Annual)
Canine Puppy Distemper Combo
Worm
and an exam

Results: he is a perfectly healthy puppy.

Everyone on this website has been so supportive and giving me so much good information. I appreciate everyone helping me through this rescue.

I emailed Lisa your post. I will also PM you her email address so that you two can get in touch. Let me know how it turns out. I know that someone here has already offered $50, I will donate the remaining $30 to get this little guy to his forever home...

OK: I think this sounds positive. She said she was VERY interested. I have not signed up with RatBones or any organizations. I just got him Friday and I am having some issues. I have only had time to walk him and try to train him so I'm not constantly cleaning his marking.

As far as pay pal. I don't know how that works. I'll check into it.

Please email me if you would like Ratbone's GAP re-homing info.... suzie_redhead01@yahoo.com - unless you've decided to keep the baby yourself - I guess I'm unclear regarding this thread...

Hey Sue,

Oddly enough I was contacting rescue groups in MN this weekend for one of my home visits that I was having a hard time with. A lady responded to me (just after I had found a volunteer. She is works with a Canine Rescue in the Twin Cities Area. Anyway, she started asking me about ratties, our fees, etc because her father has been wanting a rattie. Apparently, their rescue deals mostly with larger breeds, and her father was looking for a smaller dog. Anyway, I ws flipping back and forth between email and here, and realized this pup was in the same area as Lisa (the lady who's dad was looking for a rattie). So I connected the dot. Now I think Laura (mscgurl) and Lisa are going to hook up on Friday and make the exchange! YAY!! another rattie to his forever home. Lisa said she would get him fully vetted, neutered, etc as a present for her Dad's birthday. I sent pictures this morning, and it looks like this might work out!!
