Zona apparently does not like the tile floor in the kitchen when it's cold out. He will take mouthfuls of food from his dish and walk to the carpeted living room (5 feet away) and drop the food there to eat it. He doesn't like to eat at his bowl anymore. I'm not sure if it's because the floor is cold or if he just can't see what we might be doing in the living room... God forbid he miss anything that happens in the house!
Funniest thing happened with that the other day, though. Daisy, our Rattie/Beagle mix was outside when Zona was eating. Apparently the hounds down the highway smelled a deer or something because they were baying. Daisy let out this big howl. She's never really howled like a Beagle before. Zona happened to have a mouthful of food at the time. He stopped and looked at the back door. His jaw just dropped and all of the food fell out on the kitchen floor. He had this expression on his face like, "What the heck was that?!?!" It was so comical to see. |

Haha.. too funny about the howling =) I had a terrier/beagle mix as a child that did that. >< ...and as for the eating your food on the carpet? My Taylor does that at my dad's house when he stays there, but he doesn't do it at my house - go figure. >< |

Haha, yeah, Korke does this all the time. Some days she even picks out only the bone shaped pieces and leaves the round ones on the floor!

Hysterical, Penelope does the same thing. She hates the little round bits in Blue Buffalo, so she leaves them behind for us to pick up. |

This is too funny. We have wood floors and Minnie will bring mouthful of food to the area carpet. LOL!! And she picks out the little round bits in the Blue Buffalo too, but I put them back in her bowl. Sometimes, thats all that's in her bowl, and I won't give her any more dry food til she finishes them. I'm a mean mom!!! I'm glad to see she's not the only one! |

I never thought of that, maybe I should try the same. I asked someone at pet smart about it because i was concened about her not getting enough nutrition, but they told me the round bits were added vitamins and if she was just eating the food that she would be getting more than enough nutritional value. I still may try just leaving the round bits when it comes to that.
PS: I think Penlope qualifies for just about every thread in this forum; loves ice cubes, clothing thief, plays with food, digs when she is on the bed, it's hysterical, these dogs have amazing personalities!! |

| Rocky does this too...only he doesn't walk away from his bowl to drop his food. He backs up a few steps and then spits his mouthful of food on the ground before eating it. He does seem to deliberately eat some pieces first and save some for later but he eventually eats it all. Doggie quirks can be so entertaining! |

| My 14 year old rattie flings his food out of the bowl, plays soccer with it, then eats the kibble off of the floor. He has done this since he was a puppy. Its the craziest thing. It took me a long time to find a heavy enough bowl that wouldn't flip over and cover up the food. |

How funny! I thought Jazzy was different for doing this! She takes her food from the bowl, goes to the carpet and then eats it. She wont eat the round pieces, either! Figures...Rat Terriers!! |
