Well, the dogs just love working together to achieve their goals of making total messes. When i left they tried getting into the top of the garbage can. There was a used coffee filter and about half a pot full wet coffee grounds. They were all over when i got home. Using my best judgement, it looks like they didn't touch them at all, just knocked them over. There were still tons on the floor. How much would have to be ingested to make them very sick? They have never shown an interest in coffe, so i imagine the taste wouldn't be very good to them. I worry because pumpkin is so small. It looks like they decided to shred other stuff in there, any may have passed them by to get to their true targe, a pizza box. I still worry though.

OMG! Sorry for laughing...I can just "see" the mess!! I don't know if coffee grounds are bad for them. I'm sure someone will post soon about that. I hope they don't get sick.
I bet the pizza box lost!!

i know coffee grounds aren't good for them, but these were used, and not a full pots worth. Plus, I have a feeling they wouldn't have eaten any, but you just never know. Honestly, those considering a second dog need to think about how smart a two dog unit can be, lol. I use a shop vac just about every day, they have fun together, i can say that. And its funny, pumpkin is always caught redhanded, doing things she could not have done without him because of her size. Amlet just hides his trouble better, lol.

Hello Jamie, I am so upset that you and Jules can't come to Nora's big doings,  Boo Hoo!  I will miss Amlet, Pumpkin, Ralph, Bella and of course Patsy, who does remind me of Lucy.  Wish you guys could go.  Well, we will just have to have another Ill. meet up this summer.  Lucy loves that Dog Park you guys have.  We will have to pick a time when Jules can come up too.  Maybe we can get some others to come too.

I am sorry the pups tore up coffee grounds in the floor, I doubt they ate much if any.  They are bitter and not anything that dogs would like to eat, just something they would like to mess in.  Lucy would love to get in the trash and make a big mess for me or her Daddy to clean up.  I hope they are OK.  Like you said most of the caffeene would be out since they were already used, and there were only enough to make a half pot anyway.  You might call doggy poison control and ask them about it just to be on the safe side, they may tell you to try to make them vomit.  Do you have the number of the ASPCA poison control?  Someone posted a link here the other day to go there and sign up to have a magnet sent to you.

Well I miss you girl, I sure hope we can meet up soon.  Barbara & LUCY

Hello!
Yeah, i'm just so busy with school and work, I can never do anything, let alone a vacation! it would be fun though. Pumpkin has gotten big since you saw her last!
Yeah, see, i can't imagine they ate any, but I think i'm gonna call my vet right now. I also smelled their breath and it smelled like pure dog breath. I am going to see what my vet says though. They did do this a long time ago, but that time iknew for sure they didnt' eat any because they were contained, and not sort of spewed all over. We generally don't keep the garbage can on the floor...but someone keeps forgetting to put it up...

jeez, they want me to call poison control. which is going to be 50 dollars. this couldn't happen at a worse time, tim took my credit card this morning to put gas in his car before work.
also, my vet gave me a number that doesn't work. great. its been too long now too, so i can't even induce vomiting. its been over two hours probably. i would think they'd be showing some symptoms right now, but who knows.

ok, just got off the phone with poison control..so this will be good info for anyone else in this situation too. The vet said that most of the caffeine is lost when you brew the coffee. There is still some, but a very low amount. Even a small dog would have to ingest a decent amount, and it looks like they didn't ingest more than a few licks or so. Also, because its been about two hours, they would be showing signs by now, the same signs as chocolate toxicity. This lady was so nice, she didn't even charge me because she felt it was a simple enough answer and she didn't have to instruct me to do anything. I'm so glad, but i'm still sort of frazzled. These two make me worry so much!

i'm actually terrified to have children because of my dogs. I'm a major control freak/worrier. I panic about everything, lol. So i can imagine that my children won't be able to leave the house. My own father, who is the same way as me, said to me, referring to how I act towards the dogs "good luck to your children." HAHA.

Barb I wish i could come! School is coming to an end right now and in dire need of finding a job to survive on lol During this semester Patsy has become terrified of having her picture taken, i have to chase her around with the camera now cuz she is literly TERRIFIED. maybe i shouldnt chase her huh lol I wish the meet would have been at a better time but right now is about the worst time possible all yr. I look forward to seeing all the pups playing together in pics on here!

Sounds like you had better luck with the animal poison control than I did with the children's one. They insructed me that they would research and call me back. Little guy had gotten one of my husbands pills...lucky it didn't hurt him! They never called and when I called them back they read my number right to the last number which they changed...impossible...I have never had a different number in my married life...don't think I would mess that up.
Hope the pups are doing ok...sounds like here and could just picture mine doing the same thing!!

Glad to hear everything is ok. Poison control charges $50 for an answer. I didn't know that.

Ladyfern- I think its a tie. Lucy has my livingroom covered with toys and stuffing. And her blanket is always messy.
